How to Rose

I’m not sure I’ve ever had a day when something unfavorable or disappointing has happened. Some of them have been small disappointments, some much larger. The problem is that these disappointments tend to add up after a period of time and begin to accumulate like plaque on my teeth.

The natural sentiment of the world assures me this is normal and that there is no other way to endure the discomfort. My Dentist thinks otherwise.

Strange as it may sound, to smell like a rose begins in the teeth. First, if you’re hungry enough to do good work, and change things, you must rip your rose from the thorns. Second, as you carry the stem in your mouth, from disappointment to disappointment, breathe in the rose.

Breathe in its aroma, its delightful fragrance.  Breathe in the hope it symbolizes. And share your optimism with anyone you greet.
