Calm Buffalo

Last summer in 2024, I took a trip with my son and family to Yellowstone, and we rode into the park on a beautiful June. We saw Artist Point, then meandered south. When we reached Hayden Valley, we were stopped by a herd of buffalo crossing the road. One came almost to within arm’s reach. I could have petted him. The calf was kind-moving, loping along with his head stooping, his wide dark eyes bright and alert, moving in a tamelike manner. But we were cautioned: the buffalo seem tame, but are not. On certain occasions, they’ve gored the guests of Yellowstone. I don’t mean to ruin your trip to the park. We were fine. No one got injured. But the point I want to make is that Jesus is as mild-moving and tamed as the slaughtered ancestors of these great bison. But in the end, on the last day, whatever thing has harmed you and me and tried to ruin us, Jesus has an answer for that.
