Crunched Time

I am one of those guys who wants the thing to happen when I feel it should happen. Aligning the stars comes easily in my book – when I use the stickers from a store-bought package, like the ones you’d get at school. But it’s harder to do when I’m honest with myself, and surrender to God’s divine hand. God can easily turn a desert into an eternal playland, and change life completely to draw thirsty souls to Him. But I have to let go of this, of trying to crunch time. Time, I’m learning, is not like a hand-held fan one can fold up and put into a pocket. That ever-expanding part of life belongs to the Lord. Time belongs to Him. And if I trust His timing, I may discover that Jesus is delighted to stretch out our days, to fan them out in joy – to share His hope and freedom with us, and to expand His everlasting love.
