The Gift of Repentance

It may seem unpopular, and it is very difficult to follow through with, but truly – repentance is a gift. Sin is destructive, the opposite of who God is, and who we want to be in Him. Any sin, no matter how small, followed to the end, always leads to death. It’s destructive for us because it separates us from God, our life-giver. But to give up our sins, to turn from them, restores our rich relationship, our intimacy, with our heavenly Maker, our eternal Father. The thing is, we truly cannot repent in our own power. We need the divine help and grace from Jesus to do so. If we ask for His help, He will help us repent. He’ll take us to that moment when we ourselves, in our own pure will, will turn from our sins, and worship Him. To worship God, the Lord Jesus, leads to eternal life, and life-fulfilling freedom. With His, help, and by the power of His Holy Spirit, we can repent.
